How “Should Be Price” is calculated #

The app calculates a suggested selling price (“Should Be Price”) using your selected cost model.

The logic is:

  1. Compute a subtotal from material cost and per-minute costs:

    • Subtotal = materialCost
    • + (labourMinutes / 60) × labourRate
    • + (laserMinutes / 60) × laserRate
    • + (woodworkingMinutes / 60) × woodworkingRate
    • + (finishingMinutes / 60) × finishingRate
    • + (cricutMinutes / 60) × cricutRate
  2. Add overhead as a percentage of the subtotal:

    SubtotalWithOverhead = Subtotal + (Subtotal × overheadPercent / 100)

  3. Add profit as a percentage of the new subtotal:

    Final = SubtotalWithOverhead + (SubtotalWithOverhead × profitPercent / 100)

All minutes and rates are treated as non-negative, and the final result is rounded to two decimal places.

Example #

  • Material cost: 10.00
  • Labour: 30 minutes at $30/hr → 0.5 × 30 = 15.00
  • Laser: 10 minutes at $20/hr → 10/60 × 20 = 3.33
  • Woodworking: 0 minutes → 0.00
  • Finishing: 5 minutes at $25/hr → 5/60 × 25 = 2.08
  • Cricut: 12 minutes at $18/hr → 12/60 × 18 = 3.60

Subtotal = 34.01

Overhead (10%) → 37.41

Profit (20%) → 44.89

Final Should Be Price = 44.89
